#1: EXERCISE

There’s nothing like exercise to boost your confidence, decrease stress, and make you feel GREAT because it naturally bumps up the production of endorphins, your body’s “feel-good” neurotransmitters. Aim for exercising 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week. Choose an activity you genuinely enjoy, and you’ll be more motivated to do it.

Research shows how beneficial exercise is in lifting mood, preventing chronic disease, increasing mental clarity, and improving energy levels, so including exercise as part of your morning routine is a great way to start each day.

#2: MEDITATE REGULARLY

Growing evidence shows that meditation, combined with deep breathing exercises, can reduce stress, relax the nervous system, and even decrease inflammation. In addition, meditation produces a physiologically calming effect to help you stay grounded in the present and thus alleviate anxiety about the future or the past.

Several books and apps exist to help you develop the discipline of practicing regular meditation, but here’s a quick exercise to try right now: Stop what you’re doing and focus on three things you see, smell, taste, and hear at this moment.

#3: PRIORITIZE TASKS

Some things must get done right away, but others can wait until you have more time and energy. If you tend to run out of hours in the day for all the things you need to do, don’t add anything new! Instead, relieve the pressure of an overloaded schedule by evaluating your existing commitments.

Give yourself permission to cancel or reschedule commitments and decide which tasks you can set aside or delegate to someone else. The immediate relief you will feel may surprise you and encourage more self-care!

#4: GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Prioritizing your sleep is one of the best things you can do to decrease stress! Numerous studies show that adequate sleep reduces stress, improves cognitive health, decreases depression, and fosters a robust immune system.  Waking up at the same time each day and beginning with ten minutes of sunlight can help set your circadian rhythm.

Then, avoid caffeine after 10 a.m. and find ways to rest during the day, such as meditation and deep breathing. Finally, at night, try establishing a calming routine that includes a consistent bedtime.

#5: CULTIVATE A POSITIVE MINDSET

A positive mindset can improve your life in numerous ways and provide many health benefits such as decreased stress, anxiety, and depression, plus improved longevity! Conversely, scientific studies report that negative emotions can weaken the immune system. Which mindset will you choose today?

If you like the idea of healthy living and less stress, it’s time to learn how to cultivate empowering beliefs instead of relying on old, limiting beliefs. Question deeply ingrained beliefs that no longer serve you, and remember that you are in control of what you believe.

Do you want to learn how to make these habits last long term?
